About Helen Tyrrell

Helen Tyrrell is a professional dog trainer based in Orinda, California. Helen earned a Certificate in Training and Behavior Consultation from the Dog Training Internship Academy, taught by Janis Bradley, and is a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT). She is a graduate of the dog*tec Dog Walking Academy and the Marin Humane Society’s Canine Behavior Academy and an APDT member.

For several years Helen worked at a leading Marin County dog day care and boarding facility where she interacted daily with dogs of all ages, sizes and temperaments. Prior to that, she was a zookeeper apprentice working with lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, and other exotic species. She assisted in training camels, giraffes and sun bears to touch a stationary target so they would remain still during veterinary procedures without needing to be sedated.

Helen fosters dogs through Bay Area Keeshond Rescue until they can be placed in permanent homes. She volunteers at local shelters and finds it especially rewarding to work with shy and fearful dogs.

The Power of Positive Training

Humane, scientific and incredibly effective behavior change

Your dog is really smart, but he’s still a dog – so he doesn’t always know what you expect from him. The fact is, he’ll do whatever works for him, regardless of whether it’s what you want. But there’s a simple solution: let us teach your dog behaviors that work for him and for you.

We know how to make lessons stick: by making learning fun! Reinforcing the right behaviors while getting your dog excited about the next session produces fast results that last because your dog is motivated to maintain his good behaviors. He’s happy, you’re happy – everyone wins!
